Lead:

CPI acts as a catalyst bringing together academia, businesses, government and investors to translate bright ideas and research into the marketplace. They do this by giving their customers access to the right experts, equipment, networks, funding and more – connecting the dots for effective innovation.

CPI are a leading independent technology innovation centre and a founding member of the UK Government’s High Value Manufacturing Catapult. CPI enable the accelerated development of transformational products and processes that have the potential to disrupt and revolutionise markets. CPI also engage in technological innovation that allows established products and processes to be optimised for better performance and efficient manufacture.

CPI works with companies across diverse markets in the UK and around the world, driving their innovations forward and helping them to reduce the risk and cost associated with product development.

CPI will develop the overall schematics for the Waste2Fresh water treatment plant, marrying up technologies from the different partners to develop a water treatment which is capable of cleaning textile wastewater for reuse in the same textile system washing. Creating a closed loop wastewater system. This will help reduce utilisation of precious fresh water while also protecting local waterways from contamination.

In this overall development process, CPI will also utilise its expertise to assist partners in scaling up and increasing the robustness of some of the technologies from the partners.

Ensuring they are fit for purpose within the Waste2Fresh system.

Role in the project:

CPI will lead the development of the scale-up process for the bio-based Nanofique catalyst in WP4 and lead the overall design of the Waste2Fresh system (technical specification – WP2 and FEED package – WP6) and lead dissemination activities. CPI will play a central role in all technical work packages, informing the design and development of the subsystems and feeding the outputs of subsystem testing into the design of the scalable integrated Waste2Fresah system.

Infrastructure & Equipment

CPI’s major contribution to this project will be our knowhow and experience of developing scalable nanomaterials and commercial processes. CPI has over 15 years of experience of developing scalable materials and processing across a range of different industries. Working at all stages in the project life cycle from initial laboratory testing to pilot plant operation and large-scale production. Examples of scaled up facilities at CPI are shown below
